... I've had a big toe fusion. So my first recommendation is to RUN from that surgeon!!! If he doesn't know more than that about a fusion, he shouldn't be doing them. There is a pro tennis player who had his fused so obviously you can do better than walk on the side of your foot -which will cause stress fractures anyway. ... I can only speak to my experience. Tomorrow will be 4 weeks post op double bunionectomy for me. I had 1st metatarsal osteotomy with 2 screws each. I can say that at one week I wouldn't base too much on the appearance of your feet. My feet looked like a train wreck and that I still had bunions. To this day my toes still angle towards the seconds toes a little, but I can tell... (4 replies)
