... wires. Two toes needed a lot of work as they had malletted and caused my surgeon some challenges! However the k wires came out of these toes with no problem at all. I can honestly say it didn't hurt but just made my spine creep a bit at the thought of it! ... (5 replies)

... As long as you don't bend them. They come out a little tougher if they are bent. I had a guy one time that had hammertoes in all his lesser toes of one foot from hammertoe surgery. He was on his way to the office at one month post op to have the wires removed and got in a car accident. Needless to say he bent the wires up at a 90 degree angle so all toes were pointing straight... (5 replies)

... On Sept 25th I fell in my backyard. I tripped over a fencepost and had a twisting fall. I'm 32 and healthy, I couldn't believe it when I found out that I had 5 broken bones in my foot. ... Everybody on this board seems to have different experiences with the pin removal. I take some Aleve before I go (since I have to drive I don't take anything that affects judgement). I have had 2 other foot surgeries and asked to have my pins removed 6 weeks post op. This foot surgery (5 weeks post op currently) with 3 pins in toes will be removed 7 weeks post op and I do... ... many times fractures if they are not complete are not visible on plain film x-rays for at least ten days after the injury. Especially cuneiform fractures which are often only diagnosed by CT or MRI. I guess I would get ahold of the x-rays from the ER and have someone look at them to see if the fractures were visible at that time. If they are and the radiologist missed them... (5 replies)
