... Well, had the surgery today. My off base doctor did a bromstam repair. Got to see the video he made during the first part. He said there wasnt as much damage as he thought there would be. So thats some really news. But in the video, you could see the damage. Pretty good amount of fraid tissue. I also saw what looked like the tibula cartilage in the mortis joint has a split/cut... ... I had similar surgery, but it wasn't done laproscopic (I've got a 3 inch scar below by right tibula), and I don't believe they used anchors. As I mentioned in my previous post, Dr Paul Spiegl (Perimeter Orthopedics) did the surgery on my right ankle (no driving for 6 weeks!). ... My calc and talus smashed it the tibula. You are going to have pain at first. The tendons and ligaments are all messed up. Its like a very severe sprain. I got some weird crunch and popping. One time though, afterwards it felt better. (20 replies)

... The swelling and the surgery will aggrevate the nerves. After my las surgery, my big toe would burn and I couldn't stand anything to touch it. It has since gotten better. Message around you incisions everyday and this will help a bunch. It will break up the scare tissue and let the nerve heal. Until the swelling goes down, you will have nerve pain. ... I wanted to post my story so it may help others who have questions. I broke both ankles and my back in 02. Had my back fused which went very well. My left ankle wasn't broken very bad and it healed up very quick. My right ankle is another story. I broke and dislocated the talus. The OS screwed it all back together with 5 screws. He told me that I wouldn't walk on it again.... (2 replies)

... I have screws in the talas and the fibula and tibula. I also have a plate in there but I am not sure if he is taking the plate out. How long were you non-weight bearing? Also, will I need the boot after the surgery or will I be able to wear shoes?
