Hello guys.

I'm an 18 year old male from the UK and when I consume alcohol, my heart rate tends to increase to about 120BPM and I was just wondering if it's normal for alcohol to do this to your heart rate. I read that alcohol doesn't affect the heart directly, but it relaxes the blood vessels allowing more blood to go through them and that's what causes the heart rate.

About 5-7 months ago I was plagued with anxiety, I NEVER drank then because I found it made my anxiety worse, but I was having panic attacks, fast heart rate etc. However, I had 2 ECG's and a heart echo and my cardiologist said that EVERYTHING was fine, there was nothing abnormal that showed up.

So, do you guys tend to find that alcohol increases your heart rate?

Thanks.
Yep, alcohol is a bugger. It makes your heart races, very uncomfortable. It doesn't mean that anything is wrong with the heart itself. It is just a trigger for fast heart rate, has to do with dehydration also.
Better not drink so much, doesn't helpt for any of the problems. Only makes things worse.
