... Hi Maple Sorry about all the abbreviations. The RCA is right coronary artery and the LAD is the left anterior descending (front of the heart left side). The left coronary splits into the LAD and the circumflex (the circumflex runs towards the back left of the heart). I use CHD/CAD often (coronary heart disease/coronary artery disease). My catherizations were... (26 replies)

... I've been battling Heart Failure/Cardiomyopathy for over 20 years, am close to 70 and am doing quite well, despite the presence of serious, life threatening disease. Don't you think that my cardiologists and I might have a better idea of my diagnosis, than you, someone without any medical training or medical education? Diagnosis of any disease is not trivial, and... (3 replies)
... Hi Bruce...I have had 3 cardiac catherizations and they are nothing to worry about. The tube goes into the groin area to your heart and a dye goes into your heart so they can see what is going on. ... (15 replies)

... Hi folks, Quick question. Does anyone know what's the limit on heart catherizations? I am scheduled tomorrow for my 4th one. I've started having the procedures since 2005. 3 stents were placed in 2005. i continue to have chest, jaw and right arm pain. I finished a nucular stress test 3 wks ago and the cardio dr said it's not your heart. Well as of today, I know it's my... (24 replies)
... I just want to add to this conversation: I had 2 catherizations done and was told that i have 60% blockage in a left main and that i need double bypass surgery. I went for second opinion to a very good Doctor in NYC and they performed a CT, this is a relatively new test, year ago they did not have it. Now they use CT instead of catherization since CT is less invasive, less... (9 replies)

... I'm used to freaking people out when they hear about my health history.I was the only patient in cardiac care unit diapering a baby.I to made the mistake thinking women didn't have heart problems until later in life. ... Hey Lenin, I read that article in the TIMES about bypass operations and multiple stenting. It sounds like they are deciding that stents are more of a temporary patch than bypass grafts. I think I’m agreeing that bypassing gives a person a better chance of return to a normal life than continual stenting. Plus for me it was the only way they would have discovered what was... ... Hello Godsproperty, The Doctor has never offered me an alternative treatment. Because of the great difficulty they had during my heart surgery, I have been told that I was no longer a candidate for any kind of heart surgery. All they ever offer are routine heart caths, echoes, and LOTS of meds. Plus they check my pacemaker anytime I ask. I have asked if there is anything... (15 replies)
... Hi Enie, Thanks for replying. My dr does tell me about the dangers and he hates doing the caths on me because of the dangers. But I am kinda like a pain in the butt to him cause whenever I feel the same symptoms as before I had the stents, I get nervous and think that the stents failed and with a little urging from me to my dr, he agrees to go in and check. I now am totally... (15 replies)
... Hi godsproperty, If it seems that "the dr doesnt seem to be concerned about" your diagnosis, that does not mean that the doc is not dealing with it or keeping an eye on it. Has he adjusted your medications lately? If you are concerned, just ask your doc how he is dealing with this diagnosis during your next appointment. As far as treating your condition naturally, you... (15 replies)
... I've wondered the same thing about how many caths can a body take. I am a 41 year old female and had 5 caths done since May 2005. I just had my last one yesterday in which they placed yet another stent in the same RCA. total of 5. I've got so many springs in me I swear I bounce when I walk. My problem is that I have all the sudden been feeling arrythmias and they have been... (15 replies)
... Linen, Talking about free flushes and roto-rooters sounds really strange… You are probably right about the flush. More than likely they would never recommend something that was not be profitable to them. I also imagine that they are not allowed to recommend anything that is not included in their Doctor’s Manual, (insurance issues). Thanks for the re-evaluation on... (15 replies)
... Thank you kenkeith, Now I can do some investigating it on the web. The Doctors never said anything about a metabolic level or hyperliproteinemia, but I wonder if that is what they mean when they say it is my liver that is not functioning properly, not what I eat? I guess it has helped me live longer because of the fact that I've never been a smoker and I've eaten low... (15 replies)
