| Recently had blood work done and got tested for all STD's. My doctor called and told me I tested positive for Herpes but never said a type. I've never had a genital outbreak but have had a coldsore before (1-2 times). I had the results mailed to me and this is what it said in the Herpes Test section.
Lab results from Quest Diagnostic:
HSV 2 IGG, HERPESELECT
TYPE SPECIFIC AB >5.00H
"This assay is type specific and will differentiate between HSV 1 and HSV 2 infections. A single positive result only indicates previous immunologic exposure and the level of antibody response may not be used to determine active infection or disease stage."
I'm guessing I have HSV 2? What does Type Specific AB mean? And did she only do a HSV 2 Test? Why didn't she test for HSV 1?
Thanks in advance |
