Re: ANA testing
Feb 9, 2004
...If a ANA test result is positive with a high or low titer, there may be a pattern detected. Some patterns are; speckled, centromere, rim, homogeneous, nucleolar. This can direct a doctor as to which reflexive panel to order to help find the particular antibody (Ab). A pattern is not always detected. Antibodys can be detected without a positive ANA. There is a "chart" of antibodies, the antigen, pattern, disease association. The ANA test is a screen.
