Re: Needing advice
Jun 14, 2005
I just got done with my first cycle of Clomid and IUI. Mine did not go as smoothy as I had hoped it would. I went in for a follicle scan on the day that my LH predictor test showed positive (Thursday). I had 3 follicles the largest of which was 17.4 (they said it needed to be between 18-22). The Doctor was out of the office doing a delivery so the nurse took some blood and sent me home. She called later in the day and told me that I needed to have another scan on Saturday to if my follicles had grown. I went in at 9am on Saturday and I had already ovulated so it was "too late" to really do a proper IUI (2 days in a row). The Nurse Practitioner that I had said that they should have given me a shot on Thursday to control my ovulation, which they did not do. So anyway....she did go ahead and do a IUI with sperm washing on Saturday and told DH and I to go home and have lots of lovemaking in the next 24 hours. She gave me a 15% chance that the IUI would be successful. I am now on my 2ww and it's almost driving me crazy not knowing!!!!

The procedure was not terrible, pretty much like an anual exam with a little more cramping when she passed the cervix with the tube. I was able to go home right away and resume normal activity. I did have some side effects from the Chlomid...irritability, emotional and terrible night sweats. I am still having a little bit of cramping, but I am sure that it's normal...I have endo and PCOS so I get cramping many days of the month.

I am new here, but after reading so many posts, you've come to the right place for support!!!!

Good luck to you and your DH!! Let us know how your IUI goes.
