It seems I have been searching for answers for so long now..
I suffer from "vertigo" NOT spinning but mostly a motion sensation or swimming head feeling like I have been drinking all day, I get a falling sensation to the side, backwards, and a swaying feeling when I stand.
I also seem to have this sound in my ear that comes and goes.. it's a crackling sound like a bad speaker connection.. I ONLY hear when there is movement to my mouth or if I hear loud noises or voices.. It is driving me crazy.. I tried nasal sprays from the Dr. thinking it was allergy related, but no success.. I look up ear disorders and I find most symptoms I have but also a lot of them I don't like hearing loss and moments of vertigo.. Mine seems to be with me 24/7 except when laying down and sleeping. I do get sharp jabbing knife like pain in that same ear that last seconds.. I wonder if its all jaw related or ear?? I am also wondering does this crackling noise classify as tinnitus? I read tinnitus is mostly ringing in ears.. Also is there any help for the heavy vertigo feeling? I am so tired of feeling like this for so long. Thanks for any reply or advice!! Boxerlover:angel:

these symptoms i know all too well.....unfortunatly!
the fact that it responds to movement, outside sounds and voices certainly is what i have/had.....myoclonus of the middle ear. look up tensor tympani syndrome, middle ear myoclonus and stapedial myoclonus....all these can cause a type of dizziness, the pain can be from the contraction of the muscle. do plenty of research on this as most drs know nothing at all about it.
i have had a lot of relief from severing the tendons. where are you located? a few good drs do know about this mess.
Thanks for your reply! Funny you should say that every search on google that I do that is the disorder that most fits, besides for my TMJD.. I thought ETD as well. I am located in New York. I am wondering did you have balance or dizzy problems with this as well? I really think the dizziness is causing the tension headaches because I am always trying to focus harder on things (if that makes sense) But The crackling noises are so annoying and it's only in one ear.. If I am talking on the phone (with the phone in that ear) Every sound on the other end causes a cracking bad connection sound as well as what I feel as vibration.. Is there any treatment other than surgery? Are there medications to help the symptoms? I am sorry for all the questions but I am at my wits end as mentioned before. I am so sick of feeling like this I am 34 and my life is at a stand still from all this. The Dr.'s never mentioned this to me.. They assumed it was allergies, anxiety, or Tmj related.. I indeed do have anxiety, because of all the off balance that I feel.. Thanks again I am am going to google again.. any thoughts would be appreciated again as well.
Boxerlover:angel: P.S. just one more question how do you get this, meaning what is it related to as far as illness goes?
