... well if u have previous history of recurrent renal infections then it can be a cause of localised mild scarring of your kidney and hence mild atrophy. i dont think it will cause any failure or any kidney malfunction. ... (4 replies)

... Thanks for the reply. Hmmm..all the report said was apparent atrophy of the upper pole of the left kidney. Nothing else. I don't have any problems with the kidney but when I was little I had horrible recurrent kidney infections. Could that have caused the atrophy? ... (4 replies)

... Adrenal gland is situated over the upper pole of kidney. I am not sure if the report says atrophy is of kidney or adrenal. However, if you are not having any problem then mild atrophy of a small part dont cause any serious health complications. ... (4 replies)
