... It's part of dyslexia my son now 12 has a terriable time with math/reading/spelling can only learn about 10 words a month. At the moment my daughter is going to a different school in the mornings called the Dionostic Learning Centre that the scool division here has and she is really enjoying it. ... 'to compensate what we lack' doesn't fix the problem, it just helps you to try to live with it. If one strengthens their weak areas, like one would strengthen a muscle,they wouldn't have the weakness... after all the brain is a muscle...read about the arrowsmith school program, do a search I'm sure it will help. ... It depends if this is auditory or visual. Can she remember something if you write it down or pair it with a picture? Sometimes this helps, and she will then learn to associate the picture to the numbers over time. Also, have her trace over numbers with her fingers and say them aloud. Sometimes we just need to use other modalities in order to compensate what we lack. This... (5 replies)
