... The ast and alt test only measure acute damage to the liver those can be raised only temporarily due to recent alcohol abuse. Same with ggt I believe. The high direct bilirubin is what would scare me as that can point to permanent liver damage such as cirrhosis. Notice I sain CAN. ... (16 replies)

... you will be fine don't let them freak you out. Many people on this board have had biopsys. You can opt not to have one or get a second opinion. I would want to put an end to the wondering but I'm not sure I would have the guts to have a biopsy. They say it is not really painfull. ... (7 replies)
