Hello everyone~
First time to post in this forum. Looking for answers for my husband's condition.

Long story short, he is a former smoker. Quit four years ago after a 40 year habit. May of this year (2016) started coughing up blood in the a.m. Went to M.D. - put him on 2 z-pacs to see if it might be an infection. No change in symptoms. Went to lung specialist. Specialist ordered a CT scan. CT scan showed a nodule (2 cm) in left upper lobe. Did needle biopsy. Radiologist was not able to get enough "tissue" to determine if it was cancerous or not.

Second needle biopsy done - sent to Mayo Clinic for further review. Still inconclusive.

Lung specialist recommended round of stronger antibiotics and full blood work. Currently on the stronger antibiotics and nothing has changed. Blood work reports came back yesterday and are "normal."

Meeting with lung specialist again tomorrow to discuss "next steps." Concerned that the next step will be surgery to remove the nodule.

Has anyone walked down a similar path, and if so, what were your results? Very reluctant to have surgery in case it is indeed cancerous...

Thank you for your comments!!
