Lung & Respiratory Disorders / COPD Board Index

My life just keeps getting more complicated by the day. Last week an Arachnoid Cyst was found in my brain now this 5 mm nodule in my lung. I am scheduled to see a pulmonary specialist next Thursday. This was detected using a contrasted CT scan of my chest while I was also getting a 64 slice CT scan of my heart. The radiologist recommended that I get another scan in 6 months to ensure stability of the nodule. Could he be able to tell from the CT scan if it was a cancerous tumor and would he have stated that in the report. The report also says no evidence of mediastinal lymphadenopathy and visualized osseous structures are unremarkable. Thanks for any advice.
The pulmonary specialist will be able to tell you more. Sometimes fluid can show up as a nodule....it could be anything.
Wait until he sees you and reviews your CT scan.
Thinking good thoughts for you :)
I was diagnosed a year ago with having two 9mm nodules in the left lower lobe. So far I have had a repeat CT Scan and a Pet Scan. I scheduled next week for my third CT Scan to check to see if there are any changes. My Pulmonary doctor said I would need to have CT Scan's every 6 months as a precaution, but no Cancer as of yet.
I also have a 9mm nodule that turned out to be calcified granuloma. I went to the Dr. on 1/23/07 for shortness of breath. She took a chest x-ray that showed the nodule. I got a CT scan of the chest the next day and it turned out to be calcified granuloma. Two different doctors agreed, as well as my GP. Well, I still have the SOB. So, I went to a cardiologist on 2/9/07 and had a nuclear stress test. Guess what? All's good with the heart. OK, that's all good, but I'm still short of breath. So, it's off to a pulmonary specialist this Wed. He'll check for Pulmonary Hypertension, advanced stages of COPD, etc. If he don't find anything, then it's to a neurologist. Never ending. However, I need to know what's wrong with me. I have a few other symptoms that are the exact symptoms of anxiety. However, I won't accept that diagnosis until EVERYTHING else has been eliminated. I don't want to leave any stone unturned. Anyway, 2weimies don't make yourself sick from worry over the nodule. If the Dr.s say granuloma, then they're probably right. Remember, they see it all the time. That's what they specialize in. Another CT scan in 6mos. is standard procedure from what I understand, as my Dr. told me the same thing. Good luck and try not to worry too much. Stress can make you feel terrible. Ray
