Lung & Respiratory Disorders / COPD Message Board

Lung & Respiratory Disorders / COPD Board Index

I recently woke up in the night with severe chest pains, massive shortness of breathe and my blood pressure plummeted. I ended up in hospital as the doc was worried. I had the works there - ECG, X-ray, CT scan - nothing was found except that my oxygen reading was 92 as opposed to the 98-100 they expected. I was referred back to my doctor for lung function tests as everything else seemed normal. The pain subsided and breathing returned to normal for about 10 days when it came back - once again in the night. It has now been three days and breathing is painful. My husband is convinced it is linked to the regular pain medication I take as a result of spinal damage - I had major neck surgery last year, but unfortunately the damage is permanent and I will always need medication. I have been on these drugs - Gabapentin/Neurontin for a year. Could these drugs have anything to do with my new problem? I am extremely low - it has been a helluva 18 months and now this. Any advice? I am not sure the doctor knows what to suggest but I have little appetite and no energy. Coughing or deep breathes are agony.
