Lung & Respiratory Disorders / COPD Board Index

36 yr old female. Have been smoking for 15 years, first 10 years 10-12 cigs a day; last 5 years a pack a day. I've always had problems with lingering bronchitis, even as a child. Had a really bad bout of bronchitis about 2 years ago. It lasted about 4 months. Soon after recovering I noticed that I was coughing up brown specks in my phlegm. I quit smoking 1 year ago. Still coughing up brown specks every morning. Also, sometimes I feel a rattle in my Chest and if I start taking deep breaths, I hear a moan-wheeze or squeak at the very end of the inhale only. It will be there on one breath and then not on the next but be back 5 minutes later. I've seen 4 different doctors - they all give me a chest X-ray and a rx for antibiotics... Anyone experience anything similar? I've read that a lot of
People cough up brown specks after quitting smoking - that its the tar and resin buildup from smoking... But not sure it would still be coming up over a year later..
