It sounds like bronchitis, in that the pain is in the middle of your chest, but the swallowing thing is something else. That's how I know it when I get bronchitis; the pain in the middle of my chest, usually with some wheezing.

... It could be bronchitis. A lot of the time, if a person has wheezing when listening with a stethoscope (or if you know how your chest feels when your airways get constricted) and there is a negative chest x-ray for pneumonia, it is very likely bronchitis...assuming one doesn't have asthma.
