... If it is discolored it is from infection, if it is white or light yellow it is probably allergies. Also, acid reflux causes mucous so try a couple Pepcid and see if that helps at all. Mucous is a protectant so when acid or anything foreign to the body is introduced in certain areas mucous forms around it. (12 replies)
