Hi all, I have copd and now been told I have emphysema I stopped smoking last November was really poorly over Xmas with chest infection then about 7 weeks ago was taken into hospital with respirity failure, was in for a few days just last week finished my steroids, but I feel that I am getting worse every day, having to stop about every 10 yards for a while to get my breath,... Hello thank you for your reply,the collapse was around 22 year's ago now i'm just 48 now.Have spent year's going back and forth to many different doctors and gastroenterologists even shrinks had scopes and ultrasounds have been told my symptoms are anxiety or ibs related which doesn't ring true.I do have copd/emphysema diverticular disease and cluster headaches the symptoms... ... I was found hyper inflated lung about 10 years ago, I saw a pulmonary doctor at that time because I had some small nodules in my lung . I did three times general CT scan during 2003-2005 until the nodules disappeared, after that I did once x-ray every year. ... f all, there is no way to tell when you go from one stage to another. I will say it will happen sooner if you do not stop smoking. ... oh wow, it's a difficult situation you're in. To put it basically, you can't help your dad. he has a lifetime of being the way he is, and now he's very sick. he'll never get better in the way that his lungs will improve, and basically I can only imagine it to feel like having asthma all the time with a feeling of suffocation. ... Howdy, Last month I was downgraded from Moderate to Severe COPD/Emphysema. Also, I've just been prescribed O2 therapy to boot. It's a bummer.
