... Hello, I accidentially ran across this post and just had to say something. My oldest daughter, now 30, was born not being able to breathe good, turning purple, stopped breathing several times a day, and could not swallow. She was sent home like that as the doctor just "knew" it was malacia. Right! We spent the next 7 months in and out of his office clearing up one lung... (10 replies)

... We found out that our 5 month old daughter has tracheo malacia when she was at her 2 month check-up. I had asked to doctor at the hospital about her breathing noises the day after she was born, he brushed me off and said it was probably just a little bit of mucus left in her lungs and not to worry she would expell it in a few days. ... Hi ticp5 , i am sorry to hear how badly affected your baby is, it is such a worry and struggle isnt it. All the Dr's have said that the windpipe strengthens and should be near normal by the time they are 12 months old. So that is something to look forward to. ... I don't have the other conditions but I do have very severe asthma and I am seen at National Jewish for it. There I met a boy who had these disorders. He was being evaluated for severe asthma, but in reality he had laryngomalacia! Was your daughter premature or ever had to be on a ventilator as a child? I am betting her desaturation was due to her asthma, though I'm sure... (10 replies)
