... My son is 26 and he has had several spontaneous pnuemo-thoraxes. Just recently he had his 15th episode. The 1st which occurred at age 19, was just watched. The 2nd he had the chest tube and it was a horrible experience mainly because of the doctor. The 3rd required a chest tube but he was at college when it happened and it was a different hospital and doctor. This doctor was... (5 replies)

I've had several pnuemo's on both sides between age 19 and 24. The last one was about 5 years ago. I've had open surgery on my right side and laprascopic surgery on my left side - not at the same time ;)
I had one full collapse on my right side and the open surgery (hospitalised for 3 weeks) went fine and I've never had a problem with it again. I had 5 or 6... (7 replies)
... Pnuemothorax could cause the symptoms of carbon dioxide in the lungs. I am not positive of the exact type of pnuemo or the facts about it, but I remember reading it in the information my dfoctor gave me recently when I had mine. ... (8 replies)
... Well, first of all, you won't feel better until that tube is out, and even then you won't be 100%. When I had the tube in, which lasted a total of almost 2½ weeks I slept maybe 2 or 3 hours in 24 hours. Why 25 days? Is surgery not an option? This is only my second pnuemo, so I don't know anything about taking the tube home with you. Secondly, If you aren't working, you should... (9 replies)
... Hi Carol!!
So glad you found the board. Not sure how many of the previous posts you'e read in this thread....don't want to re-bore with my "story" :D . I was diagnosed at age 10. I never heard of, spoke with, e-mailed or met anyone with KS until I was 30 years old. Since that time it's been incredible. I belong to an online group of over 240 familes affected by KS &... ... Hi, I had two spontaneous pneumothoraxes a year apart with no treatment 38 years ago. The first one happened after breathing very heavily while pushing a broken down car and the other a year later for no reason at all. I have had no repeats since then and I haved smoked since before all that happened. I have had no lung problems at all since then. (5 replies)
Yes, it's probable it will happen again.
I had 3 before I was hospitalised. The last one was 80% collapsed, I was tubed 3 times, then had a thoractomy. It did include the pleural abrasion (pleurodisis), plus the lung is basically stitched to the chest wall so that it won't collapse again.
Mine was caused by blebs on the (right side) chest wall. They were... (5 replies)

... IF YOU READ MY POST ON "HEY EVERYONE" , WELL MY BABY HAS PULMONARY EMPHYSEMA WHICH IS CAUSED BY SMOKING BUT IN HER CASE IT'S CAUSED BY THE VENTILATOR THAT HELPS HER BREATHE, eMPHYSEMA MEANS ABNORMAL ALVEOLI SAC WHICH ARE INSIDE YOUR LUNG , BUT THERE ARE SOME DIFFRENT KINDS OF SACS WHICH ARE ON THE OUTSIDE OF YOUR LUNGS AND THEY ARE CALLED BLEBS AND WHEN THEY "EXPLODE" THEY... ... up until 2 years ago I was an ordinary average health person. I passed every physical that I ever had with great results. I never had any type of health problem before. I started a new job and while working with chemicals and cementous type materials became ill and short of breath. I was taken to the hospital and diagnosed with chemical pneumonitis. After being treated and... (0 replies)

... WOW.. Thanks a ton for all of the responses. I completely forgot I started this thread 5 months ago.
Well, a little has changed for me since then. I saw my doctor the next day, and he set me up for some x-rays and tyelenol-3.. After 3 weeks of x-rays and a little pain, I was back to near 100%. We didn't really talk about a specialist much. He didn't really feel it was... (32 replies)
