Xrays showed i have distortion of ribcage due to Ankylosing Spondylitis causing the lower Lungs to be supressed, this in turn causes the chestiness like Asthma, will not respond to Inhalers, i have had this problem now for several years where i have to keep clearing my throat, its very embarrassing. I have restricted airway disease and started on Albuterol/Atrovent nebulizer, singulair at bedtime only and advair discus.
I am only on the singulair at this point and it helps at night definitely. My breathing during the day is doing very well.
Yes a combo of the right drugs is important.

... It's really starting to sound like an anxiety problem, which can aggravate your asthma also. Have they ever given you something like Ativan when you go in 2 the ER? Although you can have an asthma attack with no wheezing(I defiitely know all about not being taken seriously cuz I don't wheeze!), and clear lungs, have you ever had a chest xray there? CT scan?
