... Thanks so much for all your replies! He was a smoker about 10 years ago, but only for maybe 2 years. He has had many, many blood tests (metabolic panels, immune system antibodies, etc.) and the only thing that was out of the norm was his thyroid (they've since given him meds for that) and something called his IGE level.
