It sounds more like a Respiratory infection resulting from your cold.
May be a case of Asthma.
You are wise to see your Dr as colds which are really bad can turn into an infection.
Doesn't sound like Lung Cancer so you shouldn't worry, good luck for tomorrow,

... You could try going back to the doctor and ask him to listen to your chest. If he hears any wheezing, rhonchi, or rales, you could get an inhaler to help. The inhaler would relax the muscles around your airways, thus helping the mucus come up.
The most important thing with bronchitis is to get as much mucus as you can up. Leaving it down there can cause pneumonia. (6 replies)
