... Hello, I am new to this forum, but thought that I can turn here for answers while waiting for additional test results. One month ago, I had bronchitis and the flu. After being out of work for several days, I returned to work. I woke up slightly dizzy, but didnt pay attention to it. After arriving at work, I became EXTREMELY fatigue to the point that I was going to pass... (1 replies)
... Good to know alicake. Thank you! My rheumatologist and allergist both told me about the 15% of the population with a positive ana and nothing else, but they said those are not usually a high positive like mine (1:1280). They both acted like symptoms would be coming. My appointment in August is with Dr. David Mclain. He is the guru around here and many people travel out of... (9 replies)

I was referred to a rheumatologist. I do not have 4/11 symptoms for diagnosis and my doctor does not want to treat my lab results. He treats symptoms. The evaluation, tests, etc. can take a few weeks to yield answers, hopefully firm answers, but sometimes only preliminary... In the meantime, the sticky posts (permanent info posts) are a good place to start reading. They're right above the user posts; look for the word... (1 replies)
... Hi Sjogrens Yes. With the little understanding I have of the ANA 1:1280 is that there are numerous causes for this count and not all relating to LUPUS. There are a number of variables. I am going to be patient and wait for more tests. Will post the results, when I get them. I will have a better direction then. Cheers. (19 replies)

... next month, but in the meantime I'm curious if anyone has any thoughts about what this could be. GP say a negative dsDNA means I don't have Lupus, and that the ANA could be a false positive? ... (6 replies)
... My question is, would my very high ANA levels be attributed to the Hashimoto's, or could it indeed be lupus? ... (15 replies)
... ANA is very non specific. DSDNA & Anti -Smith are more specific although not often positive in lupus. Im curious if you have the referance ranges available in the other antibody tests (anti dsdna, rnp, anti smooth muscle, etc) or if they were flagged high? Those are the more specific antibodies to lupus, sjrogrens, scleroderma, etc etc. (9 replies)
... facing tests and appointments. Never easy! But the good news is that your ANA finding may have just given your team of doctors a solid head start into figuring you out and treating you. I'm glad you found us and hope you post again soon. ... (9 replies)
... A + ANA does not always mean lupus. Many of your symptoms are suggestive of a low thyroid level, and an autoimmune thyroid condition (hashimoto's) can cause a + ANA. I would at least request to have both thyroid hormone and thyroid antibody levels run now to check for Hashimoto's/hypothyroidism, through your PCP, as that may shed some light on at least some of your symptoms. ... Also, some people have a somewhat elevated ANA due only to aging, to a family tendency, or to a passing bacterial or viral infection. ... (8 replies)
