Pages: 1 Showing 1 - 20 of 22 for ana choice test. (0.021 seconds)

... Hi, Katie: Being 19, I imagine it's tough suddenly feeling sick when you've been so active. I was diagnosed with SLE at age 21, and my thoughts are with you. You said you could call the doctor's office today to explain the positive test results from 2/20. Did they explain everything? I do know that symptoms, and a series of tests (over time) are done to diagnose... (3 replies)
... ANA Choice SCR, with REFIL/IFA ANA Pattern= Speckled Titer: 1:80 (note states <1:40=negative, 1:40-1:80= low antibody level, 1:80=elevated antibody level) ANA Choice Screen: Positive Does anyone know what any of this means, it sure seems abnormal. I don't know why I was never notified of this. With it being Sunday I am calling my doctor in the AM. (3 replies)
... I agree with Vee's comments. I do hope they pursue this and don't treat your ANA as a negative. It will fluctuate some, so sometimes a repeat during a "flare" of your symptoms will be higher. ... (3 replies)

... Hi, Katie. ANA is a general test, so it alone can't diagnose any condition(s). It can elevate in a variety of autoimmunes, but it can laso elevate simply due to a passing infection, virus, or family tendency. To give you an idea of where 1:80 falls on the ANA scale, 1:40 is the lowest level that gets reported. Next is yours = 1:80. Then 1:160, 1:320, 1:640, 1:1280, and... (3 replies)

... ry about. She said my titer is abnormal but isn't very high, we will just retest in a few months to see if my titer increases. My only concern is that a positive ANA isn't considered normal, there is autoantibodies in my system. Also, it isn't like I'm just getting these lab results, I am also having symptoms along with it. ... (2 replies)

... Hi. Here are some thoughts, but I'm merely a patient! 1. Is your dr. a rheumatologist? 2. ANA is only a threshhold test. In & of itself, it isn't diagnostic of anything, because it can be positive in a *multiple* conditions (lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, myositis, scleroderma, ETC.); and also due to a passing virus, to a family tendency, to aging, etc. So, were more... They have suspected rhematoid arthritis or Lupus with my 16 yr old daughter, but she will not let them test her, it's her doctor that told me how your family physician has no right, if you have a positive ANA, to not send you to a rhematologist for evaluation. ... ... angel, your local library should have at least one of the mainstream hardcovers written for patients. Dr Daniel Wallace is a top choice, and another is Dr. Robert Lahita. I'd love to know how you react to what Dr. Wallace says about Plaquenil, how it helps *ongoing* with inflamamtion, lesions, mouth ulcers, hair loss, etc. Plaquenil is used for milder RA & non-organ... ... Many of us here have some difficulty trusting the medical profession, and for good reason. However, we really have little choice. I don't know what the exact test for ANA is called. I only know that it is a blood test. When I had them done they did many at one time. I got all the results in about 2 weeks. ... (8 replies)
