... Hi, Katie: Being 19, I imagine it's tough suddenly feeling sick when you've been so active. I was diagnosed with SLE at age 21, and my thoughts are with you. You said you could call the doctor's office today to explain the positive test results from 2/20. Did they explain everything? I do know that symptoms, and a series of tests (over time) are done to diagnose... (3 replies)

... Hi Coco; My ANA numbers are the same as yours (as well as having the high Anti-ds-dna)... I find it curious that more is not being done. I need to get off my duff & get more bloodwork done. I have just been denied ODSP benefits. I expected that to happen though & am working on my appeal. I had not yet been dx'd with anything when I was first made to file. Since I... (21 replies)
... I read often and very rarely post, but had to put my 2 cents in on this one. I was diagnosed with lupus with ANA 1:80 and a high Anti dsdna. Not, however by my first rheumy. My 2nd rheumy I like very much and is extremely knowledgeable about lupus. I knew I had lupus after studying all the test results and he confirmed it the first visit. I also had the SM antibodies,... ... Yes, I do agree with you. What is concerning to me is the homogenous pattern. If it was just a speckled pattern on several occasion I would lean toward hypothyroid but with the homogenous as well it sounds more like something Lupus like with maybe a secondary hypothyroid. ... (8 replies)

... Hi...speckled pattern can be for Lupus OR many of the different auto immune diseases, including Hashis...the ANA could very well be from your hashimotos disease...do you have specific symptoms of Lupus? ... (8 replies)
... So here's the long and short of it, I've been presenting symptoms of an auto immune disease for quite some time. Most recently my symptoms seem to be those of lupus but my blood work is conflicting. I have severe (officially diagnosed) fibromyalgia, my joints swell to the point of uselessness, my feet and hands change colors (the loveliest shade of purple and white), my hair... (32 replies)
... ry about. She said my titer is abnormal but isn't very high, we will just retest in a few months to see if my titer increases. My only concern is that a positive ANA isn't considered normal, there is autoantibodies in my system. Also, it isn't like I'm just getting these lab results, I am also having symptoms along with it. ... (2 replies)

ANA question
Aug 25, 2011
... Hello, does anyone know if 1:80 titer positive ANA, mixed pattern- homogeneous and fine speckled- has any significance other than, perhaps, being an indication for more specific testing? The lymphocytes are below normal range and CRP above normal. thank you, flowergirl (5 replies)
