... with a nucleolar pattern. Natropath recommended that I go to a rhumetologist and suggested possible scleroderma or polymyosistis. ... (1 replies)
... and a nucleolar pattern. ... (5 replies)
... a disease or if I already have hidden tissue destruction going on of which I am not aware. Or if the high titer could be due to the EBV positive results I also had. ... (10 replies)

... spmom, in and of itself, ANA doesn't diagnose anything, because it's positive in quite a few conditions. ... (1 replies)
... This is purely a guess...but since you mention a nucleolar pattern and facial scarring, the first thing that came to mind was scleroderma. I'm not saying it's what you have, but you can ask your dr. about it. ... (5 replies)
... and the pattern just show how strong the antibodies are and what part of the cells the antibodies are attacking. ... (6 replies)
... which I understand is very high. The pattern was nucleolar, which I believe is more likely to be scleroderma. ... (10 replies)
... write back before now! Anyhow, ANA is only a general test that can be positive in a wide variety of conditions, not just lupus. The ANA test involves doing successive dilutions, and inspecting the sample at each point to see if "fluoresced material" still shows up. ... (1 replies)
... And to the shiny skin, is there a pattern to it? ... (27 replies)
... to systemic sclero, if you have symptoms. It is quite rare so they don't usually do the extra antibody tests for it without symptoms like Raynaud's, even with a nucleolar pattern. They are far more accurate than ANA patterns. ... (27 replies)
... And with that ANA pattern? ... (10 replies)
... initial diagnosis was Lupus from the internal med doc. I saw the rheumy yesterday and he seems to think MCTD is what I am dealing with. I don't think that the titer correlates to how severe the disease is for you.....I hope this helps..... ... (6 replies)
... Hey thanks luca, see, that's so interesting about not associated with that pattern. How do you know where to find the most current info on what the patterning "may" mean? I guess that's why the Rheumy also said she does not put too much stock in the pattern (and that did not appear to sit well with pcp), but she totally didn't seem to even look for any signs or symptoms... (27 replies)
... and that pattern determination is an art, not a science. In other words, I bet different labs could arrive at different patterns for the same sample! ... (27 replies)
... Back from Rheumy and repeat blood work has same ana and pattern but white count is back to normal range so she said that is a good sign. ... (27 replies)
... Again, I'm just a dumb patient, but for what it's worth, your swollen fingers do not sound like the typical swelling in limited ssc, nor does the shiny skin, but you should def have the wrinkles around your mouth looked at as even they, in a certain pattern, can point in one direction or another. In sclero, the swelling is always bilateral and never goes down. Yes, VeeJ,... (27 replies)
... So now waiting for results of repeat blood work to see if ANA still positive with same pattern and see if white count(slightly low) and CRP(slightly high) have returned to normal. I have been doing much reading and realize that I must insist on a referral to the teaching hospital rheumies. I realize that even though Scleroderma is rare, I just may have some of the early... ... Just got my labs back and need help interpreting. I will be going back to my rheumatologist. ANA titer- 1:160 Pattern mixed, speckled and nucleolar DNA Ab (DS)- negative CRP, high sensitivity- 9.3 mg/l HIGH Rheumatoid factor- <20 (in a previous test mine came out as 7 with high rage of 14) (2 replies)
... Thank you Think Fast. I hope you get answers too. I understand your fear, believe me. Try to keep thinking positive and keep active. Try to keep thinking how good you feel. That is a very good thing! That is actually the hardest part, is when you really feel bad and not know why. You are blessed with not having atleast that part to deal with. The fear is bad enough! ...
