... I want to comment on the ANA titer stuff because it hasn't been fully addressed in this thread. ANA titers vary from lab to lab, that is the first comment I have. Depending on the procedures that labs use, they will say that different values are demonstrated. ... (11 replies)
... I'm going back Monday to the rude Rheumy that I saw a couple weeks ago who ordered a bunch of blood tests.. another ANA being one of them. I've never looked at my past ANA titers, so I'll have nothing to compare it to. ... (11 replies)
... Your positive ANA titers are in the high range, and a speckled pattern is most often seen in lupus. ... (4 replies)

... I think 1/80 is considered a "low -positive". Mine was high - 1/10240 I'm not sure where "high" starts though. Also ANA titers are doubled; 1/80, 1/160, 1/320, 1/640, 1/1280, 1/2560, 1/5120, 1/10240 etc.... Remember that an ANA test is only one test; there are many other tests to diagnose an auto-immune disease. Good luck. (3 replies)
... ANA titers go up and down during the course of the illness so they may or may not reflect the activity at the time. ... (17 replies)

... I have a borderline ANA also at 1:80 and 1:160 as well as moderate to high Sed rate and hypergammuglobulemia, false-positive lyme. Those are really my only abnormal labs. Physical symptoms are inflammatory arthritis, rashes, fever, fatigue, raynauds and brain fog. I have been diagnosed with UCTD and Fibromyalgia. Even though I don't fit snugly into one classification, I... (11 replies)

... Most recent ana was 2560 speckled. They are finally stopping looking for MS after 2 negative spinal taps and I have an appt. ... (8 replies)
... Hi...I want to say don't settle or a fibro DX only....fibro does not cause joint pain. BUT a Lupus dx can take time for all the things to show up. As far as the titers, I have seen 1:80 being considered a pos ANA for a diagnosis, I don't think that 1:40 would though. Mine started at 1:80 and now a year later is 1:640.... (11 replies)
... Dee, I'm not going to speak to your ANA questions, as others here (AngelicBrat, etc.) are more conversant. I just want to say that I finally got my Dx only because of *skin biopsy* results, and only when those were done by a teaching hospital dermatopathologist. I am ANA negative and autoantibody negative & have been all along because I am in a SUBSET, the intermediate... (11 replies)

... So, livedo reticularis IS a rash, and I would take some good photos of it when it is present, since it comes and goes. Mine always is most noticeable after I shower before I warm up. Your Dr is ignoring a positive result on your ANA. If the livedo rash doesn't change her mind, I would seek another rheum. Not acknowledging titers below 1:320 is just wrong, and I wonder how many... ... You really need to have a diagnosis, not only for everyone's understanding, but so you can get on treatment and feel better. Please look back at your ANA result and the reference range next to it. It is not a titer if it is 1.8, and that sounds like a positive result. ... (21 replies)
... Hi everyone, I was curious to know what specific things got you all diagnosed with Lupus? What were your ANA & titers & which criteria did you cover before your doc confirmed a positive diagnosis? Although I have not gotten a diagnosis I have a doctors appt tomorrow. I have had a positive ANA & titer of 1:80, I have had blood & protein in my urine with no infection or... (10 replies)
