... Hmm, I never heard of rhupus until today. I think my RF has always been negative. Unfortunately, I am in the charity hospital system, so I can never get an appointment or call my doctor "right away" when I am in a flare. Obviously I'm only a patient, so please take this for what it's worth. :D I believe lupus and the other AI's tend to cause SYMMETRICAL pain, swelling, etc. Because your pain and swelling is only on your right hand, I'd consider seeing an orthopedist first, to rule in/out conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, etc. On the other hand, if you have additional signs &... ... Swelling in my fingers is really painful. I think it is part of the lupus package. My toes don't swell through. Thankfully. I did see my Rheumy about it and he said nothing unusual about it so I guess I'll just suffer it through. Typing does hurt but it's part of my job so I just have to take a nsaid and buck up. ... Oh yeah, I forgot to address that, sorry. I was Dx'd based on (1) lifetime medical history (juvy arthritis, seizure disorder, and general misery, lol), (2) those ACR thingies (more than four), (3) double-punch biopsy by immunoflourescence (sp?), and (4) blood results (positive ANA with low titer, high sed, positive anticardiolipin, etc.).
