... Thank you all for responding. My daughter is 15, and I do think her hormones kind of set this all off. Her struggles began in August of 2009 at age 13. As for her elevated ESR I have always been told it is due to all her inflamation from her CRPS. I guess it sounds like like there could be some more specific tests run. I don't know why this wouldn't have been done... (9 replies)
... mbbasketball & ddd15, I just noticed how different the #'s are that you two provided for RNP/Sm test: 6.something (msbasketball) vs. 300 (ddd15). I wonder if these reflect the same test with results expressed differently, or different tests? ddd15: My city doctors ran very specific ANA *subtype* tests, where each autoantibody shows a unique value (e.g., anti-ds-DNA,... ... I had blood work done in Oct. 2011 with a positive ANA and a positive RNP of 7.5. A month or so ago I had follow up blood work and my RNP has jumped up to 7.9, I saw a Rheumatologist because my pcp thought I had RA but the x rays didn't show anything. ... (9 replies)
... With a high ANA alone, no present antibodies, I was diagnosed with Lupus. Some rhematologists understand it takes time for these things to develop. ... (9 replies)
... Your ANA titer is positive high and your panel for the autoantibodies are all negative. This is how mine first started too, it took 13 years before I saw a positive high RNP. ... (9 replies)
... I don't think my test result was a false positive as high as it is and hopefully my doctor isn't thinking that. I don't get it though because they always call. ... (9 replies)
... In order to have SLE or MCTD, do you have to have something seriously wrong like kidney disease, high blood pressure, lung disease, or such? ... (9 replies)
... Well you can order blood tests online and have them done at a Laboratory (same Lab your doctors use). So I just had to pay for the test instead of my insurance covering it. I dropped the results off to my doctor today and waiting for them to call and tell me what they mean. It has been an extremely long time since I have been to a rhematologist. The rhematologist said I... (9 replies)
... Neveragain, I've read that anti-RNP is seen in MCTD = mixed connective tissue disease. MCTD is a crossover syndrome, with features of lupus, myositis, and maybe scleroderma. It was formally defined in early 1970's. But I think anti-RNP is also seen in a certain percent of lupus patients. Not sure what you meant when you said you ordered tests online & that your dr.... ... So sorry to read this. I believe she's in error on multiple things. issues. (1) It's possible to have lupus without ever having kidney involvement. (2) In addition to anti-ds-DNA, there are at least a dozen more autoantibodies possible in lupus. (Those reco'ed hardcovers list.) (3) ANA's that high aren't false-positives. (4) Even skin specialists can't always diagnose a malar... (15 replies)
... Hi & welcome. While I have read that ANA can be positive in "just Hashimoto's", because yours has been this high---1:1280 and 1:640---AND you have some interesting symptoms going on, I'd want several things: New basic labs. CBC can turn up oddities in people with AI's. These aren't diagnostic per se. New tests for ANA "subtypes". ANA alone can't diagnose anything---you... (15 replies)
... rson without intolerable side effects. I would ask for a CK to be checked since you have muscle weakness. It relates to myositis, inflammation of muscles, and an RNP antibody, which is quite high in MCTD. ... (3 replies)
