Star Stacey, this could be like getting a second opinion when you get new rheum, but in meantime, placquenil is only step one treatment and you apparently need something stronger to treat your illness. ... ery. When I "flare up" I have been given courses of steroids to reduce inflammation. My sed rate is always elevated. I am given miracle mouthwash for the oral sores which does nothing but numb my mouth. That is pretty much the only tx per se that I have received. ... (7 replies)

... sores, cold sores, and then these other ones that are sometimes painful but not always. I don't think they've ever been noted by a doctor though. I also get the nasal sores and they definitely hurt. I find it interesting that the sores aren't supposed to hurt...If true, it's surely a poorly named condition, I would think. ... (7 replies)

... Hi, Donna. Re: mouth sores, I just had my first batch this spring. (I was Dx'ed with lupus, the SCLE subset, in June 2000.) Anyway, my dentist & rheumie both suggested a readily available OTC oral paste that I got at the drugstore. It helped with the pain & adhered pretty well, considering it went in the old mouth...
