Hi everyone,

I'm a 44 yr old mother of 4. My youngest child is 10. My lmp was 6.12.05. I was on the pill but taking antibiotics. I did a hpt and it was positive. I didn't believe it so saw the gp. She said I was pregnant, although she didn't examine me and wants me to have a scan. She knew I didn't believe it and suggested I did another hpt. I have done 2. They are both negative. Yet I feel pregnant. I am very tired, bloated, have gained weight, am constipated and my breasts are sore and itchy.
My mum had several negative pregnancy tests when she was pregnant with me and I was supposed to be the menopause. Mum was 40 when I was born and actually went through the menopause in her 50's.
What do you think this sounds like?
Carol
Update. I have spoken to my gp this morning. She wants a urine sample tested at the hospital. I will get the result on Wednesday. She said a blood test was no more accurate than urine.
There was no mention of a scan. I think that applies if I'm pregnant and she obviously no longer thinks I am.
She said it is not the menopause.
She said if the test is negative then I'm not pregnant?!
So why no period?
She said it often happens but not for me it doesn't!
Any further advice would be much appreciated.
Carol
