Happy to find you!
Jul 19, 2001
Hello, I was doing a search on perimenopause when I came across this message board. I am so happy to meet you all and to finally realize that I am normal!
Two years ago I started experiencing what I call hot flashes. My entire body would get hot and actually radiate heat. PMS symptoms increased drastically.

Just over a year ago, I was forced out of the home I was renting and decided to buy a home. I went to the doctor and metnioned my symptoms and aasked to be put on low does birth control pills, even though I have varicose veins and get migraines. I mentioned perimenopause to her (I knew what this was because I had discussed this with my counselor) and she told me that I was not too young to experience this.

By the way, I am now 36 years old. The pill helped with the symptoms. I had no hot flashes for about 8 months. Then they started to come back along with the occasional racing heart, shortness of breath, moods, crying easily, night sweats etc.

A month ago I decided that I had to come off the pill. One reason is because it no longer seems to help ease the symptoms. And also, I can't tell if my periods are irregular if I am on the pill. I stopped taking the pill two and a half weeks ago. For two weeks, I was not myself at all. I broke up with my boyfriend 3 times, I almost went on a date with someone who I know is not for me, I was a whiner and a complainer and talked about things that I usually keep quiet. My stomach hurt and I just didnt feel like me at all. Finally, a couple of days ago I began to feel like myself again.

So now I just have to wait to see what my periods will be like. I have three sisters, two older and one younger and none of them are going through this. My mother says that she was all through menopause at 45 years old. I had my first period when I was 12 (the same month that my older sister by 3.5 years had her first period). I had my 3rd child when I was 26.

After reading these boards I feel relieved that many of my symptoms are what others are going through. Maybe I am unusual, but I embrace menopause! Thank you.
