... Hi Gals, Not so sure about the shortness of breath thing, I can't say that I have experienced that yet, but if it is a symptom, I will probably be getting it soon!!!! I have all the other ones. Perhaps it was the cleaning products that you were using while cleaning your tub. You can't mix bleach with ANY ammonia product, it causes a toxic gas, believe me I have done... (9 replies)

... Hi Nyue, As we get older our hormones start changing and you may need an adjustment in your birth control pills. See if you can get your doctor to check your hormone levels and see where you stand. It's probably the best place to start. Hope you feel better, Missy (9 replies)
... no I didn't use anything yet, bc I just started to have the symptoms, but I'm on birth control pills and I didn't see any of my Dr's yet ( not the ob/gyn not the family Dr ) to see what I actually should do ( have some test, or change my bc pills for different kind since I take these for 10 years now ). ... Dear Basket case, boy can I relate to you. I have had the worst two years of my life. I blame it all on perimenopause. I am now 44. Since turning 40 here is what has happened to me: developed hypothyroidism, losing my hair, gained 30 pounds, developed acid reflux and upset tummy issues, IBS, anxiety, hot flashes, cool chills, itchy scalp and neck, low vitamin D and I just... ... HI Fiveoffive and all! I can relate to you so much! First of all...I am missing my 3rd day of work laying here in bed with a fever and the worst headcold ever! I just hate calling in sick! I feel like I have been run over with a truck. Body aches, chills, tight chest, can barely swallow my own saliva...the whole nine yards. My hubby has had it for 5 days but has managed to go... ... Anybody contribute nausea to peri-menopause?? I am 45 and have been experiencing frequent nausea, sometimes severe with vomiting. Actually this has been going on for 5-6 years?? I do have acid reflux and take aciphex. But now I am wondering if it is related to perimenopause?? Most of the time it is mild nausea that is uncomfortable, but about every other month or so... ... It took me quite a few tries to find a bcp that worked. I'm now on one called Yasmin. It's apparently quite new on the market (or just new in Canada???). Anyway, it's apparently actually designed for perimenopause. It also contains a low dose diuretic so helps quite a bit with the bloating. I used to feel like I had PMS 24/7 so this one's been heaven sent. Still get hot... (6 replies)
Hormone therapy?
Dec 6, 2005
... I personally do not believe in synthetic hormone replacement. You are looking for long term, low side effect impact relief. Synthetic hormones can cause lots of problems, including an increased risk of breast cancer (my mother got cancer after years of HRT, but is a survivor). About 2 years ago, I started realizing that some of the "things" I was dealing with was related to... (5 replies)
... When I read that you had a bladder infection last week and took antibiotics, I used to get that chills thing when I used to get those all the time. I don't know if it has something to do with the antibiotics still in your system or what. ... (4 replies)
How I am Coping

... Chester4: I too wake up with panic attacks and have even gone to the emergency room because of them. I also struggle very hard with health related issues. If I know I have a doctors appointment I get so nervous that I can barely function sometimes, even if it's for something minor. I get that way if my son or husband is sick or has to see the doctor too. I didn't used to be... (412 replies)

... Hello Sandi, I'm fairly sure that my moms symptoms started at 39 or 40 so she has been going through this for a long time. She had bad anxiety w/stomach problems in her 40's but she does not relate this to perimenopause. She thinks depression is associated with it to some degree, hot flashes, night sweats, chills, insomnia and mood swings are the more common symptoms in her... (205 replies)
