... It took me quite a few tries to find a bcp that worked. I'm now on one called Yasmin. It's apparently quite new on the market (or just new in Canada???). Anyway, it's apparently actually designed for perimenopause. It also contains a low dose diuretic so helps quite a bit with the bloating. ... I personally do not believe in synthetic hormone replacement. You are looking for long term, low side effect impact relief. Synthetic hormones can cause lots of problems, including an increased risk of breast cancer (my mother got cancer after years of HRT, but is a survivor). ... Chester4: I too wake up with panic attacks and have even gone to the emergency room because of them. I also struggle very hard with health related issues. If I know I have a doctors appointment I get so nervous that I can barely function sometimes, even if it's for something minor. ... Hello Sandi, I'm fairly sure that my moms symptoms started at 39 or 40 so she has been going through this for a long time. She had bad anxiety w/stomach problems in her 40's but she does not relate this to perimenopause. I wasn't bleeding real hard and I have fibroids and cysts but it wasn't from that, just peri. Just make sure you weren't pregnant or fibroids, cysts, etc. before you totally hang it up to peri.
