You wrote"there is a connection between the 2 diseases". Actually, there really isnt. Other than that they are both autoimmune in nature, thats about where it ends. One does not have anything to do with the other and neither is a precursor to the other....worry not!
The only similarity is the fact that they are both autoimmune...but then are so are Rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and a host of other autoimmune diseases.
Please have your eyes checked. Of all the things you mentioned, this is the most concerning. A neuro-opthamologist, is one step above a regular opthamologist and if you can get an appointment with one, that might be a good place to get direction. Many a case of MS and other neurological diseases have been found by this type of doctor.
