... Abbycakes, my doctor did not give me the AVONEX because of the depression side effects. What sense does it make to have a medication that gives one more depression when this disease is depressing enough. Copaxone does not have alot of the side effects that Avonex, Betaseron, and Rebif do and that is why he prescribed copaxone to me. I have issues with depression from time... (9 replies)
... They determine your cognitive functioning. It was a lot of testing -- finger tapping, IQ, spatial stuff, memory tests, etc... My session with the neuropsych was a about three hours? It might have been more. I was so tired at the end I just went home and zonked out! A lot of Neurologists will administer these tests, I think...?? (9 replies)
... Lisa P, What exactly does a neuropychologist do? Are you still on Avonex? I've been on it for about 2 months now, and I swear, I'm having the depression side effects. I've been battling depression now for about 7 months, my doctor put me on Wellbutrin, which seemed to help, but once I started Avonex, I seem to cry a lot more now. ... I had my first (and so far only) flare about a year sgo and was hit with so many symptoms that I had a list a page long! I went to doctor after doctor and I suggested MS WAY before they did.
