... The way I understand it (from a history of spinal problems including surgery), a protrusion is one step away from a herniation. There isn't anything spilling out of the disk at L5/S1, but it is deformed and may be pressing on a nerve. The above would have nothing to do with Multiple Sclerosis as this disease does not cause the above to happen. ... My apologies. I have 4 broad-based disc bulges in my lumbar and 4 in my cervical. The ortho had ordered a cervical & lumbar MRI. Both showed issues with degerenative discs as well. Who should I go to in regards to the results of the original mri? The ortho read them and sent me to this "specialist" for pain management. So now I'm just as confused as before.... (8 replies)

... I all, I'm back! Good news first. My C-spine, T-spine and Lumbar MRI all came back normal.(Other than a small annular tear in the L4-L5 and tiny bulge with abutment to S1 nerve root) That might actually explain the bouts of sciatica. However, the Dr did not ask for a repeat of the brain, which has been almost a year, so I am just going to wait for my EMG test in April, and... (2 replies)
