... Ive had EMGs done on my arms twice...they hurt. There is no other way to say it. Is it possible you are experiencing pain simply because of the electrical shocks you experienced and this is still in your head? Have you called the doctor who administered the test and let him/ her know that you are hurting? Maybe the pain you are experiencing is from the carpal tunnel and... (2 replies)

... I'd say it is more strange than anything else. It doesn't hurt. Your muscles will jerk a little bit when they do the nerves but maybe similar to those jerks we all get occasionally in the middle of the night for no reason. It will be fine. ... Yes, I believe from what I can remember, that's exactly what happened. I had the test redone and although I still suffer from numbness in my lower extremities the tests came back norma; although, this time I was on medication that decreases sensitivity to touch, so perhaps that's why I could tolerate it better this time around. ... and arms...and all time the Neurologists gave me the tests...if it was done by a tech they for SURE can not tell you the results...and esp if your arms and legs hurt they for sure might be issues which you will need to see a neurologist to find out...remember you can ALWAYS get a second opinion... ... ... hi thanks again for helping me out. they did the emg on my right arm and right leg. she kept wanting to do it but i wouldnt let her because it hurt too much. she said it was slightly abnormal and doesnt think its anything serious. im just so scared because i know an emg is how they diagnose als. ... ... I had it done once before and it HURT! No Narc. meds unfortunately. The first time I wasn't expecting it to hurt but those needles were pretty big, they go in fairly deep and in A LOT of different places....eeeecck. I will wait to take my morning meds till after the test. ... (4 replies)
