... I work in a clinic that does EMG testing and from personal experience(4 limbs in one sitting) and what others have told me a lot depends on who is doing the test. I work with five wonderful doctors but their are only four of them I would let near me for an EMG! My advice is to make sure you you get it done no matter what if you are told you need it. ... Yes, I believe from what I can remember, that's exactly what happened. I had the test redone and although I still suffer from numbness in my lower extremities the tests came back norma; although, this time I was on medication that decreases sensitivity to touch, so perhaps that's why I could tolerate it better this time around. ... can be totally fubar'd, and won't show on the NCS portion! Normally a Tech does the sensory testing for surface time response, and the Neurologist does the EMG portion. I know for all of mine, that has been the case. ... (6 replies)

... others have small nerve damage and others have both, if you have any of the symptoms of small nerve damage they will do a skin punch biopsy or quanitive sensory testing if skin punch tech not available, it is available in the USA but not here in Australia. ... (1 replies)

... Hi Brainalley---I know what you mean about medications, since I also experienced unpleasant side effects. That’s why I eventually relied on Vitamin B6, which was helpful for me. EMG testing is a pretty standard protocol and can be done anywhere---I had mine done locally. Just make sure they test everything, especially those tests which point to problems at the knee and below.... (6 replies)

I know when I had a nerve conduction test I felt nothing & the emg was only very minor discomfort, the neuro said I some large involvement but the quanitive sensory test showed my small fibre nerves were the worst out of the two. ...
