... Hi! I'm a 45 year old woman who is premenapausal (probably peri, but I don't have any significant symptoms). I have never smoked, never been on any kind of medication or drugs, etc. The risk factors I have are my mom had osteoperosis (don't know how long she'd had it... she broke her hip at 77 this past August... and died 1 month later from toxic shock syndrome - she had a... ... I am 45, premenapausal... have no risk factors other than being small (4'11") but I have severe osteoporosis... -3.1 in my hips! My gyno and regular doctor just said do weight bearing exercises, take fosomax & calcium... Just found out I have osteoporosis also in Dec. I am premenopausal (43 yrs old) and have no risk factors other than being caucasian. My doctor didn't really think that was my problem...(he just thinks I have it because my mom had it and I'm small) but since I hadn't had bloodwork done in a while, we did it. I'm sure there were other things they were screening for as they took 2 vials of... (4 replies)
... Welcome! I'm sorry to hear about your osteoporosis - it's not a fun "club" to be in. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis in October, and I'm taking Fosamax now too. I've just turned 27 so I know what you mean about being awfully young for this! Anyway, what sort of blood tests are they doing? Take care -
