... Wow starfish - I'm impressed with your exercise regime. I decided I was too scared to ski so did cross country skiing last winter but I wasn't a very good skier in the first place - we don't have much snow in the UK! ... The book is well worth the read, it was my view about the myth before I read the book, and felt much better after reading the book. I went off of Forteo and now taking Strontium Citrate can wait till my next bone density test. But even if the bone denisity is not changed I will not take any more drugs. ... Besides bone pain, another reason to avoid bisphosphonates like the ones you list is that making bones denser does not necessarily make them stronger. A study that came out last week concludes that "for some people" bisphosphonates may, with long term use, actually cause fractures of the femur that otherwise rarely occur.
