Pain Management Board Index

Hello friends,

I am seeking any support or advice while I wait for my first pain management appointment. I was referred to a pain mgmt doctor by my emergency room doctor, who has seen me many of the 20 plus times I have needed Emergency care in the last 12 weeks.

I have been diagnosed with endometriosis, but my treating physician will not treat my pain anymore. I got all my records sent over, and have an appointment late this month.

I am taking Endocet 10-325 (like percoset, but with tylenol) every 4-6 hours around the clock. If I should miss a dosage, when I am asleep for instance, I wake up in such severe pain that the medication can not break the pain, and my Blood pressure skyrockets. This is the situation when I need the ER, for some IV dilaudid, and BP medications. For this reason, I keep an alarm on my cell phone set every 5 hours.

I am already totally disabled with a complicated medical history including 4 strokes, heart attack, kidney failure, organ damage, and more. My complicated history makes any surgery too risky, and so far my only option has been pain medication.

Since February 15, I had monthly "attacks" that last from 2 weeks to this current "attack" which has lasted from June 15 till now, with no sign of letting up. This is all day, and all night.

Can anyone give me some idea of how the first appointment goes? Will I be offered a prescription on the first visit?

My biggest fear is that they might want to re-diagnose me again, although I have all the tests and treatments sent to them to avoid that.

I have been waiting in agony for weeks, and don't want to get my hopes up, just some pain relief. any words of encouragement are appreciated.

Thank you!
