... I am a long time user of Kadian and just discovered, to my horror, that it is not covered under my new insurance plan. My dose/quantity equals about $850 per month. It appears as though Avinza is covered as a brand name with a high co-pay, but nowhere equal to $800. Can someone or anyone please discuss the key differences between the two medications and their delivery... (2 replies)

I was able in the beginning to go down from 6 BT meds a day to 5, and we were hoping to decrease the BT even more by increasing the Ocy again. But for the last 2 weeks, I'm back to 6 BT. I have chronic jaw pain along with some pretty bad arthritis and had been treating with a doc who recently closed his practice due to a medical problem. Take proof of things if ya have to, to show the high meds you were on, the painful procedure you had and explain you took yourself down and that you are definatly switching PM docs and call your GP like fabby said and see if they can short term help until ya can get to the new PM. ... Yes, there are several things on the market besides Viagra. There are shots and also a patch. I'm sorry I don't have more specific information, as I haven't used any of these products. I will tell you however, this is very common among chronic pain patients taking opiates (especially high doses) for pain control. Have your hubby talk to his doctor about the "problem." (4 replies)

... Hey Murph, I've heard the same thing about the diamond clinic as far as their use of opiates, but that was 3 years ago. Everytime a new medical director comes on board often policies change. I've seen it happen at local PM clincs that have gone from not using opiates to using them selectively to using them on many patients. It just depends on the new medical directors position...
