... I have a question guys: I was on Oxycodone, 30mg a pop for pain as needed. I found that while it helped, it wasn't quite enough to relieve all my pain. The bigger problem that I had was that for extreme breakthrough pain (and for when I woke up in the morning), the pill would take up to an hour to take effect! When a hip pops out of socket, you don't want to wait an hour... (6 replies)
... Doc didn't think I called bacause it was a short call and why would she refuse to order so it made me look like I was telling him what I wanted so he wrote the dilaudid but only 120 which is 4x a day so my dosage has basically been cut in half. I'm now having anxiety because I'm afraid its not going to work. ... (8 replies)
... hrs, max 5 total pills a day for about a year. They have become not helpful, so pain dr switched me to 1, 4mg dilaudid every 4 hrs, max 5 pills a day. Based on a pharmceutical conversion of 150mg of oxycodone daily converts to 56.25mg hydromorphone daily. ... (1 replies)

Dilaudid vs Norco

... While you might think that dilaudid would be "way" stronger" than norco, the truth is in pill for they just don't have the same effect as they do IV. ... (2 replies)
Dilaudid vs Norco

... Hi There. I didn't switch from Norco to dilaudid, but I did try to switch from 10mg oxycodone to 4mg dilaudid and it didn't work for me either. ... (2 replies)
... Yeah I know Ex, I should know better than posting this question. If anyone can understand what works for one does not mean anything for it working for another person, that would be me. SO asking is really pointless. (6 replies)
... people. What works well for one person, may not work as well for another....Lots of individual variability. Additionally, some meds appeal to certain receptors vs others. For example, the mu receptor tends to be responsive to the best pain relief. ... (6 replies)

... ion was quite typical. Hydromorphone would be recommended for patients who get breakthrough pain episodes that come on rather quickly but may not last as long. Oxycodone would be recommended for patients who get breakthrough pain episodes that last a longer period of time. ... (8 replies)

... with the long acting formulation of the Oxycodone so perhaps I will put it on the table just like that! I don't have to ask for a specific name of meds but rather instead I will stick to its class. ... (17 replies)
... Interesting that MS Contin makes you feel more awake and Oxycodone makes you sleepy, as typically it would be reversed. I'd just tell your doctor what is going on and see what they suggest. ... (17 replies)

... Thanks, your posts are always so well written and informative. As good as my pain doctor is, he's also very strict in terms of refills, pill counts, UAs and things of that nature. I'm sure 99 percent of that is the DEA though, I read an article recently about people paying 6 bucks a piece for the pills I am on, heartbreaking really. Not only are they hurting themselves,... ... I've heard a lot of good things about Opana, not sure if it's LA oxycodone or hydrocodone, I'll have to look that one up. ... (14 replies)

... I've been on norco for a long time and became tolerant. Today I was given diaudid and oxycodone to try. He told me to take the oxy for 4 days, then the dilaudid for 4 and then switch it up again and see him again in 2 weels to see which one works. ... (2 replies)
Opana vs Ms Contin
Mar 18, 2010
... Ex has does some excellent research on Opana and posted in another thread about the different types of receptors, including the Mu1 which Opana is not supposed to effect. In my experience the body metabolizes different opiates groups differently. Which one of the reasons my doctor will rotate me between Oxycodone and Morphine based pain killers when I build up a tolerance... (12 replies)
