Most conversion guidelines suggest the doc calculates the conversion and than starts at half of the estimate. You really aren't near the ball park as far as a comparable dose. ... (3 replies)

... Hi Kath! Glad that I was of some help. Of course, the others are right, it is the doctor that has the final say in this matter. I just wanted to share what worked for me. According to the manufactuer of OxyContin (Purdue Pharma), it is supposed to be Rx'd BID, but that didn't work for me at all and many other are Rx'd it TID. ... tablets a day of oxycodone short acting you should probably be on a long acting medication such as oxycontin, mscontin, avinza, kadian, methadone, duragesic patch etc. You may need something such as a roxicodone for occasional breakthough pain. MSContin, Avinza and Kadian are all forms of morphine. Duragesic is fentanyl. ... (16 replies)
