... I often do what jonnstar said. Narcotic meds like Percocet, Vicodin, and Norco contain the narcotic agent and then also Tylenol. Tylenol is a pain blocker while NSAIDs like Aspirin, Advil (ibuprofen) and Aleve (naproxen) are anti inflammatories and in a total different class than Tylenol. NSAIDs and Tylenol are commonly mixed such as in over the counter medications like... (50 replies)
... I suffer from a number of chronic pain conditions and have been prescribed vicodin the past few years (10/660). My doc writes me a prescription for 180 (take 2 tables every 8 hours) and I normally get 2 refills. I have not had any issues with filling my Rx in the past, however after my last doc appt, I went to have the script filled and the insurance rejected the 180. ... (15 replies)

... While the laws do vary state by state, in most states (including California, I believe -- where DJChris seems to live), you can up to a 6 month supply of any med that is in schedule III-V (i.e., vicodin, ambien, valium, etc...). The doctor can also write 90 day supplies with refills, as long as the total amount of medication in the prescription does not exceed 6 months (if... (12 replies)
... In a bind here. Pharmacy did not have full amount to fill last script for percocet. So ran out early & surgeon wont be in till tommorrow to write the script. The office said to call the pharmacy & see if they will give me the 2 that were not included in the script, the answer was no. The surgeons office said from now on don't let the pharmacy short me. ... any period of time more the a couple weeks begins dependency on that drug. You wouldn't want to just stop taking these meds without a taper. However, a half of Vicodin probably wouldn't even do much for WD's anyway. ... (9 replies)

... I found out last year, when I waited too long to fill a Klonipin Rx (a triplicate Rx--Schedule II?), that one month was the limit. So--I had to get another prescription. Incidentally, I was also told, about 5 years ago, that you can get an Rx 5 days early--but it was a Vicodin Rx on a regular prescription pad--not a triplicate. Another pharmacist told me 2 to 3 days....and... (5 replies)
... I know this is an old post, but I was surfing the boards and ran across this post and I gotta reply. I am a wee bothered by this post, by stating that the doc is probably going overboard with this person's prescriptions. Doc's do what they do for a reason, and yes, sometimes they make mistakes, but it isn't necessarily true that doc's lower higher mg pain meds. Docs... (20 replies)

... I really like my doctor, but within the last few years he had started doing some odd things. I travel a lot for my work, so I could call him from my home for a refill 1 month then call from a different part od the country the next. ... (5 replies)
... There was only one time I was shorted. I got half the number of pills and realized halfway through the month I was out. Had to pay cash for the early refill. That isn't an option with pain meds. ... (31 replies)

... Also, I NEVER abuse my medications. I always take as prescribed and try to be conservative, but still suffer quite a bit. Never asked for an early refill, replacement script, etc. ... (19 replies)
... >>>>>>> Hi, why. I'm sorry for what you are going thru as I know it is quite painful, but you really have to stop taking more meds than you are prescribed to take. Prescription drug addiction is rampant and doctors are very alerted by a pt. who runs out of meds consistantly before they should. It would be better, as has been suggested, that you tell your doctor that the... (4 replies)
