... expensive pain medication for chronic back pain. I hope this is clearing up my frustrations, questions, and concerns somewhat. ... Austinjj: I had lung surgery about three years ago and I was on Duragesic (Fentenyl) patches at the time. When I came out of surgery I went to ICU and they left the patch on (and even changed it once) and I had Dilaudid and Morphine as well. The important thing and you might think or ask about going home with Oxycodone. It is made without Tylenol or apap like is in... (4 replies)
... I had totally forgot I posted this question, and want to apoligize to BullyMom for not answering sooner. Thank you so much, and I appreciate your advice. I think the patches I use are called Fentenyl (SP?), but I don't use them every night. Sometimes I just rub Aspercreme on my hands and back, or use a little Ben Gay on my back. I was just concerned about using the cream... (5 replies)

... Hi Vickie: KathyMac brings out some good points in the prescribing of Methadone for CP patients, but there are some others I think. It hasn't been all that many years that physcians were able to prescribe Methadone for Chronic Pain Patients. The same applys to Fentenyl (the Duragesic patches), it was only given to terminal cancer patients. It was reserved, so to speak,... (12 replies)

Although I have a high tolerance due to being on meds for a long time, plus a fast motabilism due to only having about a third of my stomach left (surgery for perforated ulcer), I think the best is most likely the Methadone, which I'm on now. I take 180 mg of... (5 replies)
... Hi Everybody: I'm not sure if I'm writing this to everyone or I'm writing to Tina and Hopeful, but I wanted to add a couple thoughts based on Tina's previous note. I think they just come from the fact I've been on the medication (Methadone) as well as several others over the years, so I've learned a lot by experience. As far as medication to sleep, Klonopin helps and tends... (9 replies)
... Hi Mike: I assume your Oxycontin is three times a day dosing. There's really nothing specific to tell you. Your doctor probably told you how Oxy works. You'll get approximately 5 mg of Oxy within an hour of taking it. About 5-6 hours in, the pill releases the other 5 mg. Most people find that two times a day dosing is not sufficent. Even though the manufactures claim it... (9 replies)
