My husband has OCD (and apnea, too), but his psychiatrist prescribed Seroquel for him to help him sleep. It was a nightmare (no pun intended). His anxiety increased exponentially, and he thought he was going to lose his mind. He was breaking down and crying at work, and flaring into fury at our son. He told me he began to think we'd be better off without him. We realized that he felt much worse if he took the pills on even 2 consecutive nights. What angered us the most is that the psychiatrist never warned us of any side effects. On a particularly bad night, my husband called the pharmacist at our local hospital and asked if it could really be the Seroquel. He replied that a full 25% of patients go through just what my husband did. He told my husband it would be a rough ride, but to just try to get through the 24 hours it would take for the medication to get through his system. Later I read the testing process this drug went through, and the patients who suffered, and it made me angry all over again.
