Smoking Cessation Message Board

Smoking Cessation Board Index

Hi,

Good going! Yes, you will get some withdrawal symptoms on the patch. I smoked for 38 years and used the 21 mg at first. I also used hypnosis along with it. (I had tried several times before without the hypnosis)I still had to change some habits. I used to have a cup of coffee first thing in the morning and 2 cigarettes, one right after the other. I changed to tea and computer games along with hard candy. I would still get urges but not as bad. I stayed on the 21mg for as long as I needed and then stepped down on my own schedule. I didn't have any withdrawal when switching to a lower patch. A weird thing did happen. Nine months after stopping smoking and 4 months patch free, I got the worst urge to have a cigarette. Like I had never quit. I had some 7mg patches at home. I put one on and wore them for 2 months. I went off of them a couple of months later. All told, I have been cigarette free for 3 years and 10 months and nicotine free for 2 years and 10 months. The first year is the hardest. After that it is pretty easy.

It can be done. Do what works for you and keep it up. Godbless:angel:
